Inerview test follow the same rule as written test and skill test. Applicants need to arrive at the arranged room in time. It is possible the proffesors will come to the country for interview, or interview online. Applicants can choose the language from native language, English and Japanese for translation. It is not nessesory to understand Japanese for the interview test.
The 'interview examination' will be conducted based on the results of the preliminary selection of candidates for the interview, which is performed by each university.
The selection of candidates for the interview is based on several factors including the 'desired academic field' registered by the applicants at the time of application, the 'statement of purpose,' 'external exam scores,' and the results of the 'written and practical tests' conducted just before the interview.
※If you have a clear preference for a particular university or academic field, it is important to express this strong intention through your statement of purpose and external scores from the time of application.
The 'interview examination' will be conducted by faculty members from the participating universities, either by visiting the site on the day of the interview or through video communication. They will conduct the interview with each selected student individually. The interview will last approximately 20 minutes and can be conducted in Japanese, English, or the applicant's native language through an interpreter.
The schedule for the 'interview examination' will be structured to maximize efficiency for the participating universities. Therefore, all applicants must be present by the designated time on the day of the interview to confirm their attendance.
The interview starts at 9:20 a.m. Please sign in between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. As mentioned above, the interview schedule will be made on the morning of the same day according to the attendance of the candidates. If the candidates are late, the number of candidates who are interviewed will be greatly reduced. Therefore, the candidates who are late on the interview day will be disqualified in principle. According to the local conditions, the examination schedule may be adjusted. If this happens, the Examination Bureau will contact the candidates directly. In addition, in the event of natural disasters and other situations where the Bureau cannot contact the candidates, please follow the warning and response benchmarks issued by the local government.
The examination venues in different regions will be notified in advance. Please note that there may be differences between the written test venue and the practical skill test venue.
Please bring the following items to the examination venue on the day of the examination.
① Admission card (Please print the electronic version of the admission card and bring it to the examination venue.)
② Identity card
③ Written test appliances
④ Lunch (Depending on the test venue, there may be no stores nearby.)
⑤ Collection of paintings (only for students who choose art categories. Optional.)

The interviews are scheduled to be held in the following time slots:
Morning: 9:20 AM – 12:35 PM
Afternoon: 1:20 PM – 5:00 PM (with 20-minute intervals per session)
※Each university will allocate approximately 20 minutes per candidate.
※Each university and booth will conduct a maximum of 17 interviews.
※The interview schedule for candidates will be announced on the day of the interview.
※As mentioned, each university will have pre-selected interview candidates, so interviews cannot be conducted for those who are not selected.
Interviews can be conducted in Japanese, English or mother tongue (with translators).
