[During the four-year enrollment period, you can study abroad for up to two years. 】
The first half of the second academic year will be spent studying abroad at the Temple University Japan Campus on our campus, and the second half of the second academic year will be spent studying in Showa Boston. From the third year onwards, through the Certified Study Abroad programme, students can study for an additional six months to one year (taught in English) at partner universities around the world.

【International Students Track】
When international students enroll in the Department of International Studies, they will generally be placed in the International Students Track. However, if they meet the designated Japanese language proficiency level at the time of enrollment (a total score of 270 or higher in Japanese reading, listening, and listening-reading comprehension sections of the EJU, equivalent to CEFR C1), they may opt to enroll in the Regular Track. In the Regular Track, in addition to English, students are required to choose one language from German, French, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, or Vietnamese, and studying abroad is a graduation requirement. Our department's success rate for recent graduates is higher than the national average because all students begin school with the goal of becoming a social worker or mental health social worker.
